The West Coast has always been my home, and for most of us from the West Coast, we know, it can be very hard to leave. Although I grew up in the Bay Area, my family on my father's side has always resided in Southern California, so naturally, I spent a ton of time there as a child. I recently returned to the Laguna Beach area for a vacation with my best friend, Sam. Sam and I drove all the way down the coast and eventually survived what they called "Carmageddon" (the closing of the busiest freeway in the country, the 405).
Our journey was incredible, we stayed in an old vintage hotel, a California landmark, La Casa del Camino. Steps from the beach, two blocks from a great coffee shop, but most importantly, mere moments from the best plant nursery I have ever been to. I truly believed that I had found my happy place. This nursery embodies so many things that are unique to California and make it one of the most beautiful places to live. Every corner we turned we found something new to be amazed by. The Laguna Nursery, located on South Coast Highway, is an astonishing oasis for plant lovers. I truly couldn't get enough.
The plants are separated into sections that flow together wonderfully. Being that the nursery is so close to the ocean, the succulents and other sun-soakers are right up front. This was my favorite section, I am truly obsessed with succulents. But the nursery stretches back, further and further, full of fascinating artifacts, fountains, and stunning displays of both art and plant life. I really didn't want to leave.
Stunning succulent garden.
Just one example of the many, many amazing fountains.
Sam looking around all of the incredible finds!
I really cannot live without one of these. Rain trickles down the little cups.
I fell so in love with this plant. So I bought it! Drove it all the way back home. Now I just need the cool pot.
I will never be able to get over how incredibly beautiful the California coast is. I love the combination of exquisite beaches and warm weather plants. Succulents and bougainvilleas in their natural settings. Sprawling, colorful, textured. SoCal beaches can really take your breath away.
